The Fragrance

Tonka Kumaru is inspired by Amazonian kumaru, with the idea of a warm, dense and addictive material. This is not an overly sweet or gourmand tonka, but something deeper, between sweetness and character. The fragrance opens with an immediate warmth, slightly spicy and almond-like, which gives an enveloping sensation from the start. Then tonka takes center stage, with its very refined facets that are at once vanilla, slightly smoky, and almost tobacco-like. Over time, the fragrance gains depth thanks to the woods and resins, which provide longevity and structure the whole without weighing it down. Tonka remains at the center, rounder, softer, with a warm and addictive sillage.

The brand

Atelier Materi is a French perfume house founded in 2019 by Véronique Le Bihan, who hails from Brittany. This origin is reflected in the brand's identity, influenced by raw, mineral landscapes, and an approach to perfume centered on raw materials. Each fragrance is built around a main ingredient, developed to highlight its different facets rather than diluting it in a complex structure. The compositions remain clear, with a limited number of materials organized to support this central focus. The brand's universe also draws on architectural references, with a quest for clean lines, structure, and balance. This is evident in the design of the objects, particularly in a blue tinted glass bottle and a handcrafted concrete cap, the result of artisanal work. Finally, Atelier Materi prioritizes controlled production, relying on identified partners and artisanal know-how, with manufacturing predominantly carried out in Europe.
