Burgundy Oud

by Céline Perdriel
A warm and elegant oud, between woody depth and liqueur-like nuances. Burgundy Oud offers a more refined and enveloping vision of oud, crafted with an almost gourmand and vinous touch. The idea is not to highlight a raw or animalistic oud, but rather a deep material, softened and elegant, as if tinged with warm, red nuances.

The Fragrance

Burgundy Oud opens with a rich and almost vinous sensation, like a dark, dense chord that immediately captivates. Then the oud arrives, but it is smoothed, blended with woods and spices that make it more supple and elegant. Afterwards, the fragrance becomes more enveloping, with continuous warmth and a woody texture that remains on the skin. There's something dense yet controlled, with an almost "velvet" feel, never aggressive. It's a modern oud, refined and accessible, which plays on depth and texture rather than an animalistic or overly powerful aspect.

The brand

Atelier Materi is a French perfumery house founded in 2019 by Véronique Le Bihan, who hails from Brittany. This heritage is reflected in the brand's identity, influenced by raw and mineral landscapes, and by an approach to perfume centered on raw materials. Each fragrance is built around a main ingredient, developed to highlight its different facets rather than diluted within a complex structure. The compositions remain legible, with a limited number of materials organized to support this central theme. The brand's universe also draws on architectural references, seeking clean lines, structure, and balance. This is evident in the design of its objects, particularly through a tinted blue glass bottle and a handcrafted concrete cap, both products of artisanal work. Finally, Atelier Materi prioritizes controlled production, relying on identified partners and artisanal expertise, with manufacturing predominantly carried out in Europe.
